RODNEY E. CAVIN |

Baton
Rouge - LA - February 2000 --- Putting to rest
widespread industry rumors that sought-after screenwriter Rodney E. Cavin had signed with
a better known competing agency during his recent three-day visit to Los Angeles, Chadwick
& Gros Literary Agency in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, today announced that it has signed
an exclusive contract with Cavin of Orlando, Florida.
Cavin is best known for adapting feature scripts for independent
producers, including KDI, Triple-W and United Independent Productions. He has over five
thousand total credits in the television/motion picture industry,
including directing live television, dozens of TV commercials and has often been the
second unit director on feature pictures.
His most recent credit is an adaptation for Western America Entertainment,
titled "Storm Cloud."
Anna Piazza, director of Chadwick & Gros, said that "Rodney's varied
background makes his scripts especially attractive to today's independent
producer who must be more cost conscious than ever before."
Industry insiders in Orlando confirmed Cavin's reputation as a
knowledgeable, cost-saving writer. "He (Cavin) cannot only write well," one
producer/director said, "he can also write to a budget and there aren't
many screenwriters around who can do that today."
Cavin has also proven himself in adapting novels and story ideas to film,
which Piazza says will be emphasized by her agency in the coming months.
She cited "Winterchase" as an example: "Winterchase is based on an original
story by William Kautz and is the first product of his being offered
through our agency." She added that it is a drama set in the world of rock music and
is targeted to the young adult market. Four musical numbers, plus the theme song, are
intertwined in the plot.
Cavin has also recently completed an adaptation of "Among The Survivors,"
a novel by William Kautz. Both the screenplay and the novel will be marketed
simultaneously by Chadwick & Gros in conjunction with Kautz's literary
agent.
Cavin said from his home in Orlando that he is looking forward to working
with Chadwick and Gros and Piazza--also known by industry newcomers as
"The Hammer." "I applaud Anna's determination to introduce new writers to
the feature community," he said, "as well as her attention to those of us who
have been around for a while."
